1. Culture Shared beliefs and history
You will find the people in our culture do not use that word.
2. Diversity Differences
We want diversity because that makes like interesting.
3. Values Things believed to be very important
I can see that your values are very different from mine.
4. Immigrant A person coming into a land to live
He is an immigrant who is studying hard to learn English.
5. Ancestor Past family member
One of my ancestors fought in the Civil War.
6. Ethnic Racial or genetic
Im not sure which ethnic group I belong to.
7. Census A count of the population
The last census proved our community is growing.
8. Population The people in a place
The population in that town tends to be older than here.
9. Prejudice Strong beliefs not based on logic
Your prejudice keeps you from having many friends.
10. Constitution The written rules for a countrys government
The Constitution is this countrys most powerful document.
11. Democracy Rule by the people through elections
We live in a democracy and have many rights.
12. Republic A government without a king or queen
People living in a republic may not have many rights.
13. Federal Ruling over all of the states
The federal government controls the military.
14. Citizen One who belongs to a country
That woman really wants to become a U.S. citizen!
15. Rights Things all citizens can do
Voting is one of my most important rights!
16. History A record of events and actions
Your family has a long history of helping others.
17. Historian A person who records events and actions
She is a remarkable historian who has written several books.
18. Primary Essential, basic, elementary
Our primary purpose is finding out who did it.
19. Secondary Next in order, less important
Ordering pizza is secondary to fixing that water leak.
20. Perspective A view or way of seeing a thing
My perspective is a little different than yours.
