1.                   Articles – Things written to inform

                  She has written several articles for the paper.

2.                   Bulletin – Newsletter

            The latest bulletin is that the election has been decided.

3.                   Bury – Place underground

            They want to bury the treasure in my back yard.

4.                   Capital – The location of government, money

            We drove ten miles to reach the capital city.

5.                   Capitol – The building housing the government

            The capitol was very large with a dome on top.

6.                   Combination – Things put together

            I want a combination burrito.

7.                   Committee – A work group

            We are forming a committee to study which type of building we need.

8.                   Community – A group with similar ideas

            Our community is small but very determined to have a soccer team.

9.                   Composer – A person who writes music or words

            The audience really liked the music the new composer had written.

10.               Composition – Something written

            The composition was about controlling the dog population.

11.               Confined – Enclosed, restricted

            I feel so confined in these new clothes.

12.               Congress – A gathering of law makers

            The Congress is going to meet and pass a new law.

13.               Define – Describe, picture

            Try to define exactly what that word means.

14.               Deposit – Something left

            The bird made a large deposit on my car’s windshield.

15.               Development – Growth, change

            The new housing development will force us to build a new school.

16.               Expose – Uncover, make naked

            In an emergency, the first thing they do is expose the patient.

17.               Merely – Just, sort of

            The traffic light is merely a momentary delay in our trip.

18.               Mysterious – Unknown, strange

            The old man was wise and very mysterious to everyone.

19.               Parallel – Alongside, even with, never touching

            The tracks on the railroad run parallel for a thousand miles.

20.               Particular – Special, an exact one

            She says she wants this particular ring and no other.

21.               Practical – Simple, easy, useful

            A pocket knife is a very practical tool for camping.

22.               Satellite – A thing that circles another thing

            We have a satellite dish on our roof but I can’t see any satellites.

23.               Stationary – Not moving

            The monument is completely stationary.

24.               Stationery – Writing paper

            The store sells the most beautiful writing stationery.

25.               Temperature – A measure of heat

            I think the temperature is high enough to melt crayons.
