1.            Perplex – Confuse

        You perplex me with that behavior.

2.            Hams – The back of the thighs

               My hams are very sore after climbing all those steps.

3.            Cat – Slang for a Caterpillar Tractor

               Get on that cat and get start moving dirt..

4.            Chambray – A smooth, light-blue cotton cloth

               He got a new chambray shirt for his birthday.

5.            Hobnailed – Leather boot soles with metal nail heads

               Your hobnailed boots are scratching up my kitchen floor.

6.            Dogs  - A slang term for the feet

                These old dogs are tired and sore after all that walking.

7.            Sharecroppers – People who hire out to work the land for little pay

                My grandparents were sharecroppers for most of their lives.

8.            Skinner – Slang for a driver as in “mule skinner”

                He’s one of the best truck skinners in the company.

9.            Foxtails – The sticky, pointed seed of a foxtail weed

                I’ve got foxtail all around my ankles and they hurt.

10.         Heads - The uppermost part as in “the head a wild oat”, the seed

                Do you see how fat the heads on the oats in that field are?

11.         Meeting – an assembly, a gathering

                We all went to the church meeting on Sunday afternoon.

12.         Prodigal – A lost and wandering son

                My brother is the prodigal son  in our family.

13.         Tenant – A renter, one who lives on a place owned by another

                I am not a tenant because I own this house and all of this land.

14.         Harrows – Sharp disks pulled behind a tractor to till the soil

                If a man falls off a tractor and under the harrows, There won’t be much left.

15.         Diesel – An internal combustion engine that burns fuel oil instead of gasoline

                My dad traded in our old gas guzzler for a new diesel.

16.         Spam – A cheap, canned meat mix of ham and pork parts

                We had spam for breakfast and lunch and I’m a little tired of it.

17.         Side – In butchering an animal, the meat from the side, half a carcass

                There aren’t many butchers left that you can buy a side of pork from.

18.         Carcass – The body of a dead animal

                Were going to have to get the tractor and drag that carcass out of the road.

19.         Boil – An inflamed, painful, swollen sore full of pus

                I’ve got a boil on my behind and I can’t sit down.

20.         Pus – a thick, white, liquid exudate from a wound

                That boil looks like it is full of pus.

21.         Exudate – To come out from, to run out, drainage

                How long has exudate been coming from that wound?

22.         Lifer – A person imprisoned for life, a soldier making a career of the military

                My uncle is a life and I guess we’ll never be seeing him again.

23.         Jalopy – A beat up old car

                How much did you pay for that useless old jalopy?

24.         Lemon – a manufactured article that came with flaws or didn’t work

                It was a lemon when I bought it and it’s a lemon now.

25.         Flaws – Errors, mistakes, broken or missing parts

                I know I have lots of flaws, but I love you and hope you’ll love me too.
