1.           Spike – A sharpened wooden or metal point or projection

The castle was well protected and he almost fell onto a sharp spike.

2.           Globe – A sphere, a ball

A mace has a wood grip with a spiked metal globe hanging on a chain

3.           Bus – A multi-passenger transport van

We all piled into the bus for the trip home.

4.           Bucket – Vessel for catching, holding, or carrying liquids or solids

We filled the bucket with garbage and took it to feed the pigs.

5.           Shovel - Hand implement consisting of a broad scoop

The shovel was a little small and it took a while to empty the bin.

6.           Spade - Digging implement pushed into the ground with the foot

I often use a spade to loosen the soil in our garden.

7.           Hoe - Implement with a thin flat blade on a long handle

He used the hoe to get the weeds out of the flower bed.

8.           Spigot – A device to regulate flow from a pipe, a plug

The old spigot broke and water went everywhere.

9.           Faucet – A fixture permitting water to flow from a pipe

We installed a new faucet in our kitchen.

10.       Rake - Implement equipped with projecting prongs to gather material

Take the rake and get the leaves off of the front lawn.

11.       Drawer – A box in a cabinet that slides in and out

I think it is time that you clean out that top drawer.

12.       Chest – A large covered box for storage

What do you keep in that chest under your bed?

13.       Suitcase – A small box with a lid and latches for clothing

There will only be room enough for one suitcase apiece.

14.       Staff – A wooden stick or rod

He uses a wooden staff for a walking stick.

15.       Pike – A wooden staff with a sharpened point for warfare

The soldier guarded the entrance with his sword and a pike.

16.       Javelin – A sharpened wooden staff thrown in combat

I used to throw the javelin in college.

17.       Spear – A wooden staff with a metal blade at the point

The warrior used his spear very effectively against the enemy.

18.       Gaff – A wooden staff with a hook for bringing in fish

The old man used the gaff to bring the great marlin close to the skiff.

19.       Pole – A wooden stick or staff

One of the poles bent and then snapped.

20.       Mast – A large wooden pole for holding a sail

Each evening the old man would carry the mast up the hill to his shack.

21.       Zenith – The high point, top

The competition reached its zenith with the tug of war event.

22.       Tower – A tall natural or man-made structure

They climbed the formation called “the tower.”

23.       Pinnacle – The highest projection or point

Winning that race was the pinnacle of his success in college.

24.       Acme – The best, the finest example

If the acme is the high point, the nadir is the lowest.

25.    Precipice – A sharp or dangerous ledge over a long drop

He stood at the precipice and everyone feared he would fall into the abyss.
