1.            Strike – Hit

He had to strike the fish several times.

2.            Thrown – Tossed

The small boat was thrown into the air by the wave.

3.            Stole – Took without permission

If he stole the car, he will certainly go to jail.

4.            Boast – Brag, talk pridefully

Why do you always boast about such little things?

5.            Sign – A symbol, a banner

The boy stood on the street corner waving a sign.

6.            Stroll – Walk casually

They decided to go our for an evening stroll.

7.            Thigh – Upper leg

The goose took hold of his thigh and would not let loose.

8.            Height – How tall a thing is

The height requirement keeps me from going on the ride.

9.            Dough – A paste that hardens

We will knead the dough and then bake it.

10.         Owe – To be in debt

I do not owe you any money!

11.         Loaf  - A shaped mass of bread or food

She removed a beautiful loaf of bread from the oven.

12.         Stroke – Downward movement of an arm

He was able to kill the tuna with one stroke.

13.         Growth – Development and addition of cells

14.         Stride – A pace, a step

15.         Code – Substituting one symbol for another

16.         Slope – An incline

Do you think this car can go up that steep slope?

17.         Hose – A long flexible tube for carrying liquids

If the hose breaks, there will be an awful mess!

18.         Mild – Gentle, moderate

The new soap is too mild to get things clean.

19.         Flow – The movement of a semi-liquid, liquid, or gas

If you restrict the flow of water, the hose will burst!

20.         Slight – Small, little, weakly built

She was slight but unbelievably strong!

21.         Permission – Consent

Do you have to get permission before you take it?

22.         Banner – Flag

They wanted a banner to wave at the game.

23.         Bread – A cooked paste made of grain meal

That fresh bread smells wonderful!

24.         Substitute – Replace, a replacement

Mr. Neely hasn’t had a substitute since 1994.

25.       Flexible – Capable of being turned, twisted, and bent

That group of cheerleaders is really flexible.
