1.       Peck - To strike at with a beak

The bird kept trying to peck me.

2.       Twitch - To jerk slightly

I was annoyed by his twitch.

3.       Throne -                A grand chair where a king sits

The monarch climbed the steps to her magnificent throne.

4.       Goat - A small, cloven hoofed, horned mammal

The found the goat wandering in the hills.

5.       Purse - A small bag or sack for carrying coins

The bandit lifted his purse.

6.       Cape - A large cloth worn over the shoulders

Zorro always wore a cape.

7.       Barge - A floating cargo vessel without its own propulsion

The barge broke loose and destroyed a small bridge.

8.       Chain - Large or small looped and interwoven metal pieces

We had to cut the chain in order to enter the empty factory.

9.       Phonetic - Based on sounds

As long as a word is phonetic I can usually spell it.

10.    Sludge - Gooey, thick waste matter

The sludge at the bottom of the tank was deep and nasty.

11.    Coin - Round metallic money, change

They had to make change with coins.

12.    Paint - A colored liquid applied to a surface

The paint was not very good and left many uncovered areas.

13.    Quit - Stop

I asked you to stop!

14.    Squirm - To move and twist about

Is it really necessary to squirm so much?

15.    Pawing - To touch or scratch with paws

The cat kept pawing at the locked door.

16.    Drape - To cover with a cloth

My mother used to drape our couch with a blanket.

17.    Tapped - To have made a light striking sound, percussion

The trapped sailors tapped on the metal hull of their ship hoping they might be rescued.

18.    Train - A cargo or passenger vehicle on rails and pulled by an engine

The train hit the car with terrible force and carried it a long distance down the track.

19.    Paving - To cover the ground with a hard substance

We are paving our patio with large stones.

20.    Way - Route, method, path

I’m not sure which way is the shortest.

21.    Tower - A tall, thin structure

The electrical tower carried huge cables that buzzed with electricity.

22.    Thankful - Grateful, appreciative

We have always been thankful for your help.

23.    Rattle - To make a rapid shaking or clicking noise by loose small parts

The old truck managed to rattle down the dirt road.

24.    Lever - A bar, rod, or stick that is pulled

The guard pulled a lever and all of the doors opened.

25.    Prison - A place of confinement for criminals

Prison is a place where people who cannot behave are kept away from society.
