1.           Chain - A series of things linked, connected, or associated together

There is a food chain from plankton to jellyfish to turtle to shark.

2.           Manifestation – An event, an occurrence, a result

His red face is a manifestation of his anger.

3.           Attraction –A pull, a thing that catches one’s attention

The shark has an attraction for the shape of swimming turtles.

4.           Murky – Dirty, dingy, unclear, muddy

It was impossible to see in the murky water.

5.           Occasionally – At times, sometimes

Occasionally a shark mistakes a human on a surfboard for a turtle.

6.           Tentacle – A long, flexible arm or appendage

A jellyfish tentacle is much more delicate than a squid’s.

7.           Polyps – Little sacs or pouches

The jellyfish uses little digestive polyps to digest the fish it catches.

8.           Consume – Eat, ingest, use up, take in

The jellyfish consumes plankton so small that we cannot see it.

9.           Digest – To breakup in order to absorb or take in

The jellyfish secretes digestive juices that dissolve a fish.

10.       Phagocytosis – The process of eating and digesting

I watched a rather large gentleman engage in phagocytosis at Taco Bell.

11.       Contract – To draw in, become smaller or tighter

The tentacles ensnarled a little fish and began to contract.

12.       Secreting – To produce liquids or juices

The cat saw the food and began to secrete saliva and drool.

13.       Enzymes – Body chemicals that digest foods

We dropped the meat into the enzymes and watched it dissolve.

14.       Proteins – Body building blocks made of amino acids

Muscles are built from protein.

15.       Carbohydrates – Sugars, starches, and cellulose used as food

Sugar is a carbohydrate that is very popular in wealthy countries.

16.       Fats – Oily compounds used by the body to store food energy

Oils and fats are high in calories but may lead to obesity.

17.       Crustaceans - Lobsters, shrimps, crabs, water fleas, and barnacles

Lobster is a delicious crustacean that looks like a big spider.

18.       Algae – Primitive plantlike, chlorophyll containing, organisms

The surface of the pool was covered with slimy algae.

19.       Plankton – Very tiny, even microscopic, sea plants and animals

It is hard to believe that a whale can live well by eating tiny plankton.

20.       Ensnare – To catch with a trap or trick

The jellyfish used its tentacles to ensnare the tiny fish.

21.       Entangle – To catch by trapping in strings, filaments, or tentacles

The cowboy tried to entangle the horses feet in the loop of rope.

22.       Threads – Small strings or filaments

The Space Shuttle had tiny threads exposed but they fixed the problem.

23.       Marine – Aquatic, living in the sea or water

Marineland is a wonderful aquatic park full of marine animals.

24.       Reptile – An air breathing, belly crawling, cold-blooded animal

The sea turtle is a reptile endangered because people eat its eggs.

25.       Unusual – Different, odd, abnormal

That is an unusual and obviously painful way to eat a taco.
