Four Steps to Writing

Writing a sentence

     Steps:

A.           Subject – Who or what is doing it

B.           Verb – The action or thing being done

C.          Object – Who or what are they doing it to

D.          Adjectives & Adverbs – Words that describe or paint pictures

Writing a Paragraph

     Steps:

A.           Say what you are going to say. (Introductory sentence)

B.           Say it. State the facts. (Body)

C.          Say what you said. (Concluding sentence)

D.          Link it (Transition) (Mention what is coming.)

Writing a Paper

      Steps:

                       A.    Concept – The idea

1.      What is it about?

2.      What do you know about it?

3.      How can you find out about it?

4.      Take notes or write down what you learn

B.     Planning the Paper – Making it happen

1.    Introduction – Say what you are going to say!

                 List the points you want to make

2.    Write a paragraph for each point – Say it!

              Back it up with a fact or facts

3.    Conclusion - Say what you said!

                  Restate the introduction

D.  Have someone read it and make corrections

C.  Revise and Finish – Rewrite it and type it
