1.             Bad – An adjective meaning unpleasant

                 This was a bad day.

2.             Badly – An adverb meaning poorly

                 I’m afraid I played badly.

3.             Borrow – To take on a loan

                 I’ll let you borrow my new pen.

4.             Lend – To give expecting a return

                 Can you lend me a dollar for lunch?

5.             Can – Able to do a thing

                 Show me what you can do.

6.             May – Having permission to do a thing

                 You may go to the bathroom.

7.             Good – An adjective meaning pleasant

                 The paint job looks very good.

8.             Well – Usually an adverb meaning properly, correctly

                 You paint cars very well.

9.             In – Located within

                 That store is in the mall.

10.         Into – To go into, to enter

                 I don’t think you should go into that building.

11.         Its – A possessive pronoun meaning belonging to it

                 Its wing are beginning to fill out and spread.

12.         It’s – A contraction for the words it is

                 It’s an old story that we all know well.

13.         Let – Allow or permit

                 Will your teacher let you go out to recess?

14.         Leave – To go away from, not to take

                 If you leave, be sure to close the door.

15.         Lie – To rest or recline

                 Try to lie down and get some rest.

16.         Lay – To place down

                 Lay the book down on the table. 

17.         Sit – To rest in one spot

                 Please sit down until I finish.

18.         Set – To place or put down

                 Just set the book anywhere you can find room.

19.         Teach – To educate or instruct

                 Mr. Kiley loves to teach kids new ideas.

20.         Learn – To gain knowledge or receive instruction

                 If you learn, you can improve your test scores.

21.         Their – A possessive pronoun, belonging to them

                 It was their problem and they needed to solve it.

22.         There – An adverb indicating a location

                 Place it over there on the small table.

23.         They’re – A contraction for the words they are

                 They’re in trouble again and they know it.

24.         Two – A number or quantity of one and one

                 Two is too many if they’re to work together all day.

25.         Too – More than enough, excessive

                 You’re too young to have two tiny horses.
