1.             Bunk – A stacked and built-in bed

               They refuse to sleep on the top bunk.

2.             Staff – A long stick, the people who run a business

               The school staff are all eating lunch.

3.             Dock – Join together, Cut short, a loading platform

               The space shuttle will dock with the space station.

4.             Slept – Rested in a state of sleep

               Arthur has not slept in three days.

5.             Mist – A fine spray or fog

               A fine mist was hanging over the hills.

6.             Bunch – A grouping of the same things gathered together

               She bought the whole bunch for a dollar.

7.             Swift – Fast, rapid, quick

               That boat is really swift.

8.             Stuck – Poked, placed, firmly set or embedded

               The pig stuck its nose into the feed trough.

9.             Breath – To take air in and out of the lungs

               If you breath cigarette smoke you will become ill.

10.         Tough – Thick, enduring, leathery

               This meat is as tough as leather!

11.         Fond – Liking, friendly

               I am fond of Chinese food.

12.         Crush – To apply destructive pressure

               We all have to go out and crush cans today.

13.         Grasp – To hold firmly, seize

               Please hurry because I am losing my grasp!

14.         Dwell – To reside, live, or stay in a place

               If you dwell in the land of tigers, you may be consumed.

15.         Fund – To pay for, a stash of money, savings

               My mother has agreed to fund our club this year.

16.         Ditch – A long, narrow trench

               The climbed up out of the ditch all covered in mud.

17.         Split – To cut or separate into two parts

               Try to split two logs and cut them up before dinner.

18.         Swept – To clean by brushing or by broom

               I swept my room yesterday and it is already dirty again.

19.         Deaf – Hard of hearing or unable to hear

               My grandmother is going deaf.

20.         Rough – Having a harsh and uneven surface

               I fell on the rough pavement and skinned my knee.

21.         Shuddered – Shook heavily

               He shuddered when he saw his house burning down.

22.         Debris – Waste or unwanted leftovers

               After the storm there was debris in all of the streets.

23.         Undulating – Waving rhythmically

               The wheat in the field was undulating slowly with the breeze.

24.         Fault – Responsibility, an earth split created by an earthquake

               We live very near the San Andreas Fault in Palmdale.

25.         Jolt – A hard, fast impact

               We were frightened by the jolt of the thunder and lightning.
