1.             Broth – The juice boiled off from a meat

Too many cooks spoil the broth.

2.             Cover – Something to put over a thing

Don’t judge a book by its cover.

3.             Invention – A creation, a new idea

Necessity is the mother of invention.

4.             Famous – Well known

That is a famous saying.

5.             Sayings – Commonly used expressions or phrases

Famous sayings usually are true.

6.             Flock – A group of animals

Birds of a feather flock together.

7.             Bones – The hard structures that form the skeleton

Stick and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.

8.             Rainbow – A prism extending across the sky

At the end of a rainbow you’ll find a pot of gold.

9.             Doctor – One who has studied medicine and heals others

An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

10.          Honesty – Not telling untruths, being truthful

Honesty is the best policy.

11.          Lark – A small bird

She is happy as a lark.

12.          Starve – To go without food for an extended time

You must feed a cold and starve a fever.

13.          Treading – Walking, stepping

You are threading on very thin ice.

14.          Haste – Quickly, rapidly

        Haste makes waste.

15.          Saved – Put away, preserved

A penny saved is a penny earned.

16.          Wise – Smart, intelligent, knowing many useful things

Early to bed and early to rise makes a person healthy, wealthy, and wise.

17.     Tack – A small nail

That little dog is sharp as a tack.

18.     Fever – The body becomes hot in response to an infection

Fever can be a good thing because it helps the body kill bad organisms.

19.     Pole – A long smooth stick

 I wouldn’t touch that coat with a ten foot pole.

20.     Never – Not ever

It usually is better late than never.

21.     Will – Desire, intention, wish

Where there’s a will there is usually a way.

22.     Blind – Unable to see

I think he’s blind in one eye and can’t see out of the other.

23.     Penny – One cent, a small copper coin

You can be penny wise but pound foolish.

24.     Policy – Rule, established way of doing a thing

Honesty is the best policy.

25.     Earned – Worked for, deserved

Money earned is money valued.
